Deadly fire: 23 dead

Around 23 prisoners have died in a fire in Ethiopia, it has been reported. The fire at Qilinto prison is said to have spread rapidly with witnesses claiming to have heard gunshots.

Qilinto is understood to hold over 3,000 inmates in tiny cells, with the prison being noted for its cramped spaces and poor conditions.

The Ethopian government has not named the victims yet.
